Type 1 (18.2 megohm) - Basic: Includes atomic absorption or making standard buffers in which TOC and nuclease removal are not critical but ion removal is important.
Type 1 (18.2 megohm)- Analytical: Includes HPLC or ICP-MS in which TOC removal and ion removal are critical.
Type 1 (18.2 megohm) - Life Science: Includes PCR or monoclonal antibody work in which TOC, endotoxin, and nuclease removal are all important.
Type 2 (1-15 megohm): Includes media or buffer prep, rinsing of glassware, or the supply of feed water to a Type 1 water system or other ancillary lab equipment. Also includes distilled water for hormone research and pyrogen-free water.
Type 3 (RO): Includes buffer preparation and dilution, supplying ancillary lab equipment such as autoclaves or water baths, or glassware rinsing.
Deionized Water: Treated by passing the water through a deionizing system, such as a large resin bed.
Distilled Water: Treated by the process of distillation.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water: Treated by the process of reverse osmosis to remove contaminants. RO/DI combined water has been treated by reverse osmosis and then passed through an additional resin bed to make high-quality treated water.
Tap/Potable Water: Completely untreated water from the spigot.
Your daily usage volume is an approximation of the total amount of water that is used in a day. When estimating, take into consideration if water is shared, or if one day is particularly heavier than another. We recommend you select the volume of your heaviest usage to ensure maximum cartridge life.
Many systems can be mounted either on the wall or on the bench, while some large volume units are designed to work exclusively on the floor. Your mounting decision must be made at the time of purchase as additional accessories may be required.
